Funding from BBC Children in Need
CHEXS are delighted to announce that we have secured funding from BBC Children in Need for our NEW After-school Self-Esteem Leadership project for the next 3 years. Our current school-time, self-esteem programme builds leadership and communications skills, self-esteem and aspirations but can only reach 170 children annually. This is just 15% of the children who could really benefit from our support. The additional funding from Children in Need will now enable the charity to replicate the programme outside-school-hours, meaning that our reach will now help 432 additional 8-11 year old children over 3 years to develop key life skills, help build their confidence and raise their self-esteem.

Parent Presentations

We are currently running our Parent Presentations this month at local primary schools and we are so very PROUD of the children who have taken part, many of which were pushing themselves completely outside of their comfort zones speaking in front of the group of parents and carers about their experiences on the Primary Self Esteem Programme. Children quotes ” Working with CHEXS I have learnt to be more positive and and to persevere” “I felt happy because I have done fun educating activities”

CHEXS MY LIFE Project

CHEXS My Life Project with Goffs Churchgate students were looking at their aspirations and how their life skills can be transferred into a work place environment. But, once they’ve got the job, how about the home? We would like to thank Gillie White from the Citizens Advice Bureau for visiting and discussing the realities of renting or buying a property, budgeting and the costs involved with setting up a home. All very valuable information for the students.

Our very own Simone is running the London Marathon this year for CHEXS, training is going well. If you’d like to follow her progress, head to our Facebook page for updates.

You can sponsor her by the following link https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-display/showROFundraiserPage?userUrl=SimoneKelseyClark&pageUrl=1 which will take you to her Virgin Fundraising page. Thank you.
