Merry Christmas
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year from everyone at CHEXS

CHEXS Christmas Crafts

We created 300 packs which were delivered to our schools recently for them to hand out to students and our Goffs Academy and Goffs Churchgate mentored students created a series of You Tube videos so that you can craft along with us.

First – a Massive THANK YOU
Thank you to all our partnership schools in continuing to allow the charity to work with your families. You are all going the extra mile to support your children, young people and families.
CHEXS completely understands the immense pressure and continuous stress you are all under.  We would like to reiterate the CHEXS team are here for you, your children and families at this difficult time.

We would also like to thank all CHEXS grant funders of specific CHEXS services, our emergency COVID-19 crisis funders and for our local fundraisers and of course your donations too. All the funding we have been so kindly awarded has helped CHEXS to support even more families using our strong networks, resources and know-how at a time when our families needed it most.
The coming months will compound our existing community member’s needs as these issues are going to have a huge impact on our wellbeing for months and years even after this current crisis has passed.
Every single grant, fundraiser or donation will ensure we are here throughout and beyond to help communities move forward in a positive way.

CHEXS Holiday Self Esteem Project

Children who attend the CHEXS self Esteem programme were offered an opportunity to take part in the October Half Term holiday programme, this is being delivered through funding secured from Children in Need. The children were selected in line with school bubbles and following all COVID 19 guidelines. The children were able to enjoy some safe half term fun taking part in a range of team building activities which promoted leadership and problem solving.

The children particularly enjoyed making the dream catchers and exploring their imagination and creative side.   It was a fantastic opportunity for the staff to really get to know the children and have some interesting talks with them.
“Practice makes perfect. I kept trying and messing up but kept going on and on, I struggled but got help from a friend and then she taught me. I have called my dream catcher Twinkle.”

ZOOM Mentoring

Since the start of term it has been a roller coaster time with children being supported in their school bubbles both within school and off site with CHEXS. The safety of the young people and our teams have and continue to be paramount, so Covid-19 health and safety guidelines given have been strictly followed at all times.
There have been many interesting chats with the children and young people about how the restrictions have affected them and about their anxieties and worries.

At CHEXS we always say that to talk about worries helps and it certainly seems too, with many of the children quoted as feeling better for having spent the time taking part in the activities.

‘Comfort Zone – I’m normally an anxious person with not much confidence and it just worked it clicked. i was able to communicate which is something I’m not normally good at. I felt more confident.

Anxiety Workshop delivered
Our Family Support Team delivered a socially distanced Anxiety Workshop at Burleigh school this half term which was received very well by all attendees.
We have more workshops planned, please keep an eye on our social media pages for more information.

Many tips were shared to help you to support your child to cope with anxiety.
Supported by the Henry Smith Charity and the National Lottery Community Fund.
