Children who were attending school during lockdown were able to access the Leadership Programme funded by BBC Children in Need giving them activities that developed their confidence, self-esteem and problem solving skills whilst having loads of fun! Children were able to make friends with people they do not usually play with and having the time to talk about any worries or concerns with the CHEXS staff giving them increased resilience to face life’s challenges.

Child quotes – “I’ve had so much fun playing and working with someone I don’t usually get along with in school. Thank you.”

CHEXS Children in Need Holiday Program:

CHEXS facilitated several Half Term holiday sessions in February making sure that children had access to some fun activities. Fun Zoom sessions were held with Bingo, riddles and Guess the Animal being firm favourites with the children each taking a turn to lead an activity. We spoke about how to keep yourself safe online, together with what they are missing the most in the Lockdowns. They spoke about missing friends and not being able to see their friends when online learning every day. Everyone is looking forward to going back to school.

Face to face Covid safely distanced sessions were in place for some schools with the children being encouraged to practice their Teamwork and Leadership skills. We even discussed the importance of fresh air on our well-being and how, now more than ever, it is vitally important!

One family expressed; “XXX hasn’t stopped talking about it since I picked her up, she really enjoyed it. It was good for her to spend some time outside.”

Some words of the day included;

“It was good because you learn teamwork and more life skills. We had to know my left and right and listen well.”

“I think I have got better at building today, knowing that there was a problem and saying what to do.”

Here’s what our Family Support Team can help you with, we’re just a phone call or email away and we’re ready to help.

The team at CHEXS would like to take this opportunity to say a massive well done to the schools we work with for your continued dedication, professionalism, and commitment in supporting your children, young people, and families in these very difficult times.   We recognise that we are not out of the woods yet, however the momentum seems to be heading in the right direction and in the coming months we hope to be back living our lives with some sort of familiar normality.

If you would like to donate to CHEXS, no matter how large or small it would be very much appreciated. It can be done through our Facebook page or by clicking the link DONATE on our Website.
This is an incredibly tough time for all charities and your donations can make a real difference.

If you need us for support or advice during the holidays,
you can call us on 07950 303247
