Coffee, cake and make

CHEXS has been lucky enough to secure a grant from the National Lottery to run a Coffee, Cake and Make session to give community members the chance to relax and re-charge with like minded people

Our Anxiety workshop at Goffs Oak Primary School this term was very well attended. Quotes from parents included:

  • ” Really helpful knowing the signs, my child shows many of these and I don’t always deal with them in the right way so great to be able to understand and use tips to support her”
  • “So nice to hear other parents going through similar things I thought I was the only one – reassured I can help my child.”
  • “Great workshop lots of ideas and solutions that are easy to use whilst helping my child with anxiety.”

Due to demand we have planned a variety of parent workshops in all Primary Schools from September, these include: Anxiety and your child, Behaviour, Routines and Boundaries, Debt and Money Management. Please look out when these will be running at your School.

The Family Support Team visit Schools on a regular basis, we meet and greet at the School gates and have Support Sessions in Schools, please feel free to drop in or say hello at the gate, we are a friendly team and offer support and guidance with a range of issues.

Quote from School staff:
“Family Support you engage so well with the parents and it shows in the results of the referrals that the parents are engaging well with the service. I think you do an amazing job and you are a great asset to the school”

CHEXS Holiday Provision
CHEXS has been delivering holiday provision for some of the children attending the CHEXS Growth project.

Activities are co-produced with the children allowing them the freedom to decide which activities they would like to take part in.

Activities have included arts, crafts, fun games and a nature walk around Cedars Park.

Holiday clubs have given the children the opportunity to be outside, gaining additional skills whilst building their friendships rather than being on their own during lockdown.

Rainbow Prints
During the height of the pandemic CHEXS was donated Waltham Cross Rainbow prints showing The Eleanor Cross under a rainbow of hope and in appreciation to our incredible our incredible NHS and local charities.

We will be proudly delivering these to local schools and senior citizen independent living homes in Waltham Cross next week as the restrictions are lifted as we (hopefully) reach the end of the rainbow. Watch out for the social media posts!

CHEXS GROWTH PROGRAMME 2021-22
The CHEXS Self-Esteem project has been such a success over the past 10 years building the confidence and self-esteem of so many children and young people in our local area helping them achieve their personal goals.

We have been reviewing the programme and have decided to re-name it to The Growth Programme. It has become evident that this programme has evolved to enable the children and young people to improve and empower themselves by setting goals and discovering where their full potential lies.

The new project name, Growth, reflects the development of positive life skills, development of a realistic and healthy self-esteem and improved mental health.

B3 Living Project

The CHEXS team have partnered up with B3 Living to create willow sculptures that their residents can enjoy. They have created a willow dome for children to play in at Valence Drive in Cheshunt and also outside the B3Living Cedars Lodge independent living complex.

Goffs Academy students helped on both projects chatting to the residents who came out to see what we were up to and commented on how nice the areas looked. Residents were offered the opportunity to have a go at using the willow but they decided to leave it to the CHEXS team and students.

CHEXS are looking forward to completing lots more projects in partnership with B3 Living

AFTERSCHOOL CLUB 2021

CHEXS have delivered 14 afterschool clubs to four different schools including Brookland Juniors, Longlands. Andrews Lane and Burleigh. Funded by BBC Children in need, the focus of the sessions was to allow children to explore their leadership skills, build on their confidence and step out of their comfort zone.

The groups were often mixed friendship groups, which helped the children to branch out and develop new relationships.
All of the sessions included varied activities and new and exciting team games. All participants were well involved and there was a lot of fun had by all!
Reviews were positive and it was a great opportunity to get to know more of the children and make a positive impact.
