Family Support Service update – Winter 2024
For our Family Support service update – Winter 2024, we wanted to tell you some more about what we have been up to.
Our Family support team have been busy over the last couple of months delivering services to our families, here is an update for Winter 2024.
The FSS Team has been buzzing with activity, hosting Top Tips sessions both in-person and online. This half term we have delivered sessions about setting Boundaries, Routines and Behaviour. This session is for parents and carers and will focus on strategies to improve children’s behaviour through structured boundaries and routines, thereby building a positive environment both at home and at school.
Parent quotes from workshops:
”This has given me so much to think about, thank you’
‘Thanks for the tips, I will use these strategies from now on’
This term, at the start of the new school year, the Real Talk Parent Hub welcomed both our regular attendees and some new faces. Parents had the opportunity to enjoy a warm drink, engage in friendly conversations, and share or receive advice on various parenting concerns in a relaxed and supportive environment. We had SPACE Hertfordshire attend a session on 4th December, listening to parents and giving support and advice.
Parents commented they found the advice useful and that they now have a clearer idea of what SPACE offer.
To celebrate Black History Month the Family Support Team held an event at Cedars Park during half term. There were lots of activities for families to do as well as Steel Pan man, Tony, who taught us how to play and kept everyone entertained throughout. The Police came along to speak to families. Kyahs Kitchen attended with Caribbean food. CHEXS trustee Patsy Spears came along and gave talks on Windrush which was very well received.
Some Children that were attending CHEXS holiday club also attended and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Quote from parent – ‘ This has been really informative, and the children have enjoyed themselves, thank you’
Quote from a child – ‘I liked playing the drums, it was good’
Our Family support service is supported and partnered with The National Lottery Community Fund
