CHEXS Children and Young People Team
Real Words. Real Impact.
“I’ve really enjoyed being out with CHEXS. It’s helped me a lot and made me realise that shouting at my parents (and teachers) to get my point across isn’t the correct way to do it. There are other ways to approach the situation.”
This message from a young person involved in our CHEXS growth programme truly stopped us in our tracks.
It’s a powerful reminder of the incredible impact our Children and Young People team makes across all of our Partner Schools. The CHEXS growth programme creates supportive, empowering environments where young people can reflect, learn new skills, and grow, both emotionally and socially.
Messages like this reaffirm the value of everything we do.
Thank you to every team member, supporter, and school who helps make this transformation possible.
Inspiring Role Model & Creative Projects
This term, as part of the CHEXS growth programme, our team continued delivering Role Modeland Creative Projects across our schools.
One standout activity saw secondary students visiting primary schools to support younger pupils with creative outdoor projects. These sessions helped improve school environments, while also strengthening confidence, communication, and teamwork.
What made it even more special? The peer support. Secondary students shared their own experiences, listened to younger pupils’ questions about moving to secondary school, and helped ease anxieties with real, honest conversations. A key moment in our CHEXS growth programme, bringing reassurance, inspiration, and excitement for the next chapter.
After School Club – Supporting Growth Through Play
Our After School Club is another essential part of the CHEXS growth programme, and it’s been thriving this term!
Children have loved the teamwork and leadership games designed to spark conversation, improve problem-solving skills, and build creativity and self-confidence.
-
Games Galore sessions take place outdoors, combining fun with physical activity—lifting moods, reducing anxiety, and building resilience.
-
Lego Leadership develops fine motor skills, encourages imagination, and promotes communication and collaboration.
-
Games Master Leadership uses board games to improve memory, cognitive skills, and social interaction in a calm and inclusive setting.
We’re proud that our after school provision supports a wide range of personalities and abilities, offering every child a safe space to explore and thrive as part of the CHEXS growth programme.
Building Resilience at Lambourne End
Another highlight of the CHEXS growth programme this term was our activity week at Lambourne End Activity Centre.
The day began with exciting teamwork challenges, like guiding marbles through obstacle courses using plastic piping. The collaboration, encouragement, and shared success showed just how far these young people have come.
Next up: the wall climb. Starting at 6 feet and reaching 10 feet, this required strategy, strength, and trust, skills at the heart of the CHEXS growth programme. Watching students lift each other up, both literally and emotionally, was truly powerful.
In the afternoon, the land and water ropes course tested balance and bravery. Yes, some fell in the water, but every child got back up again, supported by their peers and cheered on by the group.
The feedback was phenomenal. These students have worked hard all year on the CHEXS growth programme, and this celebration of resilience, teamwork, and achievement was more than well deserved.
