CHEXS Family Support – A Term of Learning, Listening & Looking Ahead

It’s been a fulfilling and reflective term for our CHEXS Family Support Team. We’ve continued walking alongside families with support, advice, and a friendly face.

From Real Talk sessions in Tesco’s Community Room to Top Tips workshops on healthy lunchboxes, we’ve offered small ideas that can make a big difference. While attendance at our Healthy Eating sessions was lower than expected, we’ve listened. We’re using your feedback to shape future workshops more around what families really want.

Summer Craft sessions

The Summer Craft sessions we held in schools also didn’t go as planned. Turnout was lower than in previous years. Based on parent feedback, we’ll return to our popular Easter Crafts in 2026.

Despite those challenges, we’ve stayed strong in the community. Our regular school gate chats, coffee mornings, and home visits have helped families feel supported and heard. These face-to-face moments build trust and real connections.

Family Support team has also been busy attending local summer fetes, where we’ve enjoyed chatting with parents and children. If you see us out and about, please stop and say hello, we love meeting families where they are.

Looking ahead to September

There are some exciting changes!
We’re launching ‘Parenting Unplugged, Helping you find calm in the chaos (because there’s no manual!)’  a exciting brand-new, 4-week series of support sessions designed around what families really want and need.

Our first group will focus on SEND and Your Family, offering safe, supportive space to share experiences, ask questions, and connect with others.

📍 Where: Hertfordshire Women’s Centre, Longcroft Drive, EN8 7PA
🕐 When: 1pm – 2:30pm (Start dates to be announced soon)

Keep an eye on our social media for updates, we’d love to see you there!
