Family Support Team

This half term has provided many opportunities to connect, support, and grow together through our family support services, school engagement work, and community outreach across Hertfordshire.

Throughout the term, our Family Support Team has worked closely with local families, schools, and community partners to deliver early help support, parenting programmes, and community activities. As a result, families have been able to access positive experiences that strengthen wellbeing and community connections.

In addition, we have continued hosting our popular coffee mornings and school gate mornings across local schools. These welcoming sessions encourage parent engagement, provide access to early help advice, and help families build supportive relationships within their community.

By bringing families together through shared experiences and ongoing support, we are helping to strengthen communities and improve positive outcomes for children, young people, and families across Waltham Cross and Cheshunt.

Parenting Unplugged Sessions

Our Parenting Unplugged programme continues to grow successfully, with SEND support sessions at Cheshunt Library attracting strong engagement from parents and carers across the local community.

As part of our family support and early help services, the sessions cover important topics including routines and boundaries, screen time and devices, and Emotion Based School Non Attendance (EBSNA). In addition, families receive practical parenting strategies, SEND guidance, and emotional wellbeing support to help manage challenges at home and in education settings.

The programme also provides a safe and welcoming space where parents and carers can share experiences, access family support advice, and build peer support networks with other local families. Through regular attendance, many parents are gaining confidence in supporting their children’s wellbeing, behaviour, school attendance, and daily routines.

It has been fantastic to see stronger community connections, continued engagement, and positive outcomes for children and families through our Parenting Unplugged SEND support sessions.

Nature Walks and Real Talk

As part of National Walking Month this May, our Family Support Team has been delivering community wellbeing activities across Hertfordshire, including nature walks with parents and carers.

These walks help improve mental health and emotional wellbeing. In addition, they encourage positive family engagement and stronger community connections through outdoor activities and informal early help support.

Meanwhile, our Real Talk sessions continue to provide a welcoming space for parents and carers to share experiences and access family support services. By offering relaxed conversations over a cuppa, the sessions help reduce isolation and strengthen local support networks for families.

New Member of staff

We are delighted to welcome Jada to our Family Support Team as our newest Family Support Worker. Jada has made a fantastic start in her new role and is already settling in well within our community based family support services across Hertfordshire.

As part of our early help and family support provision, Jada is beginning to build positive relationships with families, schools, and partner organisations, helping strengthen local family engagement and support networks. Her caring approach and enthusiasm have already made a positive impact within the team and the wider community.

It has been wonderful to see Jada quickly integrate into the service and contribute towards positive outcomes for children, young people, and families. We are excited to support her continued development as part of our growing family support service.
