Dame Alison is an inspirational leader in education, renowned for her lifelong dedication to empowering young people and championing inclusive practices. As the Chief Executive of the Chartered College of Teaching, a professional body committed to supporting and elevating the teaching profession, she brings a wealth of expertise and a passion for education that aligns perfectly with CHEXS’ mission.
Dame Alison’s illustrious career spans roles in primary and secondary education, advisory positions, and executive leadership. As Executive Headteacher of The Wroxham School in Hertfordshire, she implemented groundbreaking approaches to inclusive school improvement, later sharing her insights through her acclaimed Learning without Limits research.
In addition to her role at the Chartered College, Dame Alison holds numerous honorary fellowships, professorships, and advisory roles with leading institutions, including Queens’ College Cambridge and UCL. She serves as a trustee for Big Change and the Helen Hamlyn Trust and is a Director of the Edge Foundation, making her a driving force for innovative educational and social equity initiatives.
