AFTER-SCHOOL LEADERSHIP SESSIONS

The CHEXS After-school Programme is all about giving children the chance to develop confidence, build life skills, and have fun, all in a relaxed, trusted environment. Delivered across local schools in Cheshunt, Waltham Cross and surrounding areas, the programme supports children aged 8–11 through hands-on, activity-based sessions designed to improve emotional wellbeing, social interaction and communication.

Funded by BBC Children in Need, this programme is a safe space for children who may feel overwhelmed in the classroom or need extra encouragement outside of the school day.

WHAT YOUR CHILD MIGHT DO

Sessions are youth-led, with children encouraged to shape the content of activities based on their interests and goals.

  • Confidence-building games – fun, structured activities to support teamwork, self-esteem and communication
  • Creative problem-solving – small group challenges that develop leadership and decision-making
  • Enrichment activities – outdoor play, crafts, puzzles, role play and mini-projects that encourage expression
  • Group discussions – safe, age-appropriate sessions where children explore topics like friendship, resilience and identity
  • Mentoring moments – CHEXS staff offer support, encouragement and personal check-ins to help children feel seen and valued
