Desired Long Term Goals

In 2019, CHEXS brought together staff, schools, and community partners for a Theory of Change session, a space to reflect, challenge ourselves, and shape a shared vision for the future and to look at our desired long term goals.

That conversation covered everything from family support needs and community pressures to aspirations for wider impact, sustainable funding, and stronger partnerships.

Since then, we’ve used these insights to shape our direction. This page outlines what we heard, and more importantly, what we’ve done since to turn long-term goals into meaningful action.

What We Heard in 2019

The session identified the importance of early intervention, raising aspirations, and strengthening family support across our community. We talked openly about barriers like funding, parent engagement and misunderstood reputations and opportunities like better communication, wider access, more staff capacity, and improved visibility of our impact.

Everyone agreed: we needed to grow what worked, reach more families, and build resilience not just in young people, but in the systems around them.

KEY GOALS FROM CHEXS THEORY OF CHANGE

  • Support children’s self-esteem, aspirations, and wellbeing

  • Deliver consistent family support, from early years to adolescence

  • Upskill and support parents

  • Raise community awareness and overcome stigma

  • Offer more life experiences and enrichment

  • Secure diverse and sustainable funding

  • Build stronger school partnerships and feedback loops

  • Keep children engaged in education through practical, emotional and social support

WHAT WE’VE DONE SINCE 2019

The 2019 Theory of Change session didn’t just spark ideas, it set a direction.

The illustrations below show how we’ve turned key ambitions into real, tangible progress. From expanding family support to building national partnerships, this journey reflects how CHEXS continues to grow, respond, and deliver lasting impact across our community.

LOOKING AHEAD – OUR ONGOING PRIORITIES

While we’re proud of the progress we’ve made since 2019, our work is never static.

We continue to listen, adapt, and respond to the evolving needs of the families and communities we support. Our current priorities reflect both ambition and pragmatism, focusing on quality, sustainability, and deeper impact:

  • Increasing feedback from parents and young people to refine and shape our services
  • Growing the My Life Programme to support boys aged 12–15 through tailored sessions
  • Strengthening sustainability through local fundraising, sponsorship, and community events
  • Reaching families earlier, especially those not yet connected through schools
  • Ensuring our staff team has the capacity and support to meet rising demand

We know we can’t achieve these goals alone. Whether you’re a parent, teacher, funder or community partner, we’d love to work with you.

If you believe in early help, family-led support and strong community connections, let’s talk.
