“Volunteering for CHEXS is so rewarding!”

Want to know more to volunteer with us?  Here is some feedback from our wonderful volunteers Scarlett and Ellie.

My name is Scarlett and I am a chexs volunteer. I first met the team when I was in primary school when they helped me and my family with some issues I was having of my own. Over the years I have built up my confidence and learnt to believe in myself.

When I started secondary school I was introduced to them again, where I started to help out with the younger children just like I was helped all those years ago, I enjoy building relationships with the children and helping them with the challenges that they face. Watching them enjoy the team building and laughing all day gives me joy and memories have been made.

Chexs and the team have helped me so much with my social skills, confidence and my self esteem, I hope that I have been able to help someone else in a similar way. I believe that the skills I have learnt will continue into adulthood and my career path as a paramedic, I have learnt skills I cannot learn in a classroom like being compassionate and understanding, also being able to talk to all varieties of people.

Thank you again I have enjoyed my time.

Hello, my name is Ellie, I am 20 years of age, and I am currently studying BA Hons Early Childhood Education at university of Hertfordshire. I am going into my third year from September, and I know working with young children and their families is the career for me, in fact it’s my passion. I have many hobbies such as, reading, going for walks, swimming, and painting.

I started volunteering with Chex this year and I absolutely love working with each and every one off the team and the young people. I have found my volunteering role to be both interesting and rewarding and while working on the in-school projects, alongside the team and young people, I have found it fun and have gained a lot of knowledge about activities and during discussions that I wouldn’t have otherwise known or tried.  I am thoroughly enjoying my role as a volunteer with Chex and I look forward to it continuing.

“I love the diversity of my role, working with such a supportive team and being part of such a dynamic office environment.”

“I have found working with the young men and women at CHEXS to be very rewarding. Outside the school environment they often shine and surprise both themselves and their support staff with what they are able to achieve.

These fine young people see that they can make better choices in life. They gain in both maturity and confidence through the activities we expose them to and it is such a pleasure to witness this transformation.”
