Celebrating Growth and Progress This Easter
As we approach the Easter holidays, our Children and Young People Team at CHEXS has been proud to witness the continued development of the children and young people participating in our Growth Programme. This academic term has been filled with moments of resilience, achievement, and learning, highlighting the incredible potential within every young person we support. The dedication and enthusiasm of our participants continue to inspire our team and reinforce the impact of our programmes on young lives.
Primary Pupils Engaging in Conservation
Our primary pupils have shown fantastic commitment during their coaching sessions, steadily building confidence, communication, and trust. Through their Stage 7 Community Habitat programme at Fishers Green, they have been actively involved in conservation work, including carefully cutting back hedgerows using various tools. These hands-on experiences have allowed the children to demonstrate responsibility, safety awareness, and a growing sense of pride in contributing positively to their local environment.
Experiential Learning Through Team Activities
Afternoon activities have provided further opportunities for learning and growth. Through den-building challenges, pupils have exhibited outstanding teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Observing them collaborate, communicate clearly, and support each other has reinforced how experiential learning not only develops practical skills but also strengthens confidence and resilience among children and young people.
Empowering Secondary Students with Life Skills
Our secondary students have recently taken part in “My Life” sessions, an essential part of the Growth Programme. These sessions focus on building self-confidence, fostering positive body image, understanding healthy relationships, and developing vital life skills such as budgeting. The honesty, engagement, and maturity demonstrated during these discussions have been remarkable, equipping young people with knowledge and tools they can carry forward into adulthood.
Inspiring Experiences Beyond the Classroom
We were delighted to take seven secondary pupils on a visit to the Google Accessibility Discovery Centre in King’s Cross. The experience was both inspiring and educational, as students explored innovative accessibility technologies and features designed to support individuals with additional needs. Seeing the young people ask thoughtful questions and imagine future possibilities was incredibly rewarding. A heartfelt thank you to Google for providing this valuable opportunity. As Google has also funded our Computer Science programme with the primary school children, it was amazing to extend this opportunity to our secondary school young people, giving them a chance to experience cutting-edge technology and explore future pathways in tech. We remain immensely proud of every child and young person in our programmes, whose growth, courage, and enthusiasm continue to inspire us every day.
